Dorothy Mae Pilling beloved widow of Loran Pilling of Calgary passed away on February 10, 2009 at the age of 100 years.
Dorothy was born in a one room log cabin in the Sweet Grass Hills of Montana, U.S. She taught 6 grades in one class room of a rural school in Montana. She moved to Calgary in 1930. In 1939 she built a home in Roxboro and lived the rest of her life there. Dorothy loved Hawaii and Arizona, she also loved to garden, and Dorothy was famous for her fresh baked rhubarb pie which was always ready when drop-in guests arrived. Dorothy couldn’t swim but learned to water ski and when her children got bikes she tried to learn to ride too, in doing so she broke her ankle. Dorothy also took up snow skiing at the age of 60.
Dorothy is survived by Loran (Judy) Pilling of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Diana Burton of Boise, Idaho; Dorae (Abe) Epp of Calgary, AB; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband “Pops” in 1992
