Pieper, Dorothy Patricia

Dorothy Pieper (Dodie) (nee Dewar) of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Born on her father’s birthday in Sheerness, AB, Mom enjoyed living on a small farm before the family moved to Calgary where she attended Connaught School. As a child, Mom and her family spent two years in England and later in life she traveled back to England, Scotland and Germany with her husband Wolfgang. Other travels included Hawaii, Victoria and the Maritimes. Mom is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Erika Anscombe and David and Lisa Anscombe; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Warner Unterberger; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Glennis and Jean Dewar, all of Calgary; and brother-in-law Stanley Neufeldt of Medicine Hat, AB. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Emily Dewar; brothers, Roy and John; sisters, Violet Gogain, Hazel Neufeldt and Joyce Gammon; first husband (div) Dennis Anscombe and her husband Wolf Pieper. A private Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery.     Very sorry for your loss. I believe I met your mother years ago when I visited Calgary with my family. My grandmother was Lulu Dewar, married to Roderick Dewar, my mother was Vivian Dewar. I also remember meeting Violet. I came to live in Calgary on my own in 1978, and visited them at that time as well. My grandmother died in 1984, and my mom in 2002. I would love to hear from any Dewar relatives.
