  2. I only met Joe once, fairly briefly, but we were still able to share a few laughs after a show in Calgary. I know, via Brent, that Joe meant the world to your family. He was spoken of often, and with reverence, high praise and love. Please accept the sincere condolences of my wife, Nancy and I at this very difficult time.

  3. My deepest sympathy to the family. I didn’t know him, I’m a friend of Brent’s – but I know he raised a wonderful son who is well-loved by many. I can only assume like father, like son. That’s a beautiful legacy. My heart goes out to all of you for your loss.

  12. Everett Fleming :

Dear Sonja, Michael, Brent and Dianne:

This is just to let you know how saddened I am to learn of Joe’s passing. Even though we had not seen one another all that frequently I always felt a special kinship, both because of our backgrounds, as well as sharing grandparent hood for two wonderful granddaughters.

This is a new day for you, Sonja, and I know you will miss him dearly as will each of you in your own way.. But you will always have the memories to cherish. I will certainly miss the daily “Sunnyjoe” missiles that revealed how interested he was in all that was going on in the world around him.

With love and affection to each of you. Everett

  13. Dear Sonya, Brent, and family,

I’m so sorry to hear of Joe’s death. I feel a connection to your family from our 21st century pen pal correspondence. I’ve felt the love and strong family ties in your comments.

I know there are no words that can heal the loss, but in my own family experience I took comfort that the end, like Joe’s, was peaceful and at home.

Please know that you are in my thoughts.

    Deepest condolences,

    David Ruston
