PETROSSI, Carlo Giovanni

September 27, 1932 – October 8, 2012

The family of Carlo Petrossi sadly announces his passing on Thanksgiving, October 8, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Carlo was born in Ramandolo, Nimis, Italy on September 27, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in 1959, and worked in several trades before purchasing his business, Carbide Saw Service, in 1974. He always had a strong work ethic, even spending a few hours going to his shop until March of this year. Carlo was always dedicated to his work and customers. He enjoyed simple pleasures, such as gardening, wine-making, camping in the mountains, fishing and especially being with his family. He was deeply loved by all, and will be sorely missed. Carlo is survived by: his best friend and loving wife of 52 years, Maria; sons Sandro and Robert; daughter Liana (Gary) Haynes, grandchildren Peter and Noemi; brother Mario (Rina) Petrossi; sister Bruna (Elso) Vizzutti; brother-in-law Pietro (Franca) Cussigh; and all their families, including nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents, Pietro and Maria Petrossi; parents-in-law Giacomo and Anna Cussigh; brothers Tarcisio and Benito; and sister Rina.
The family would like to thank: Dr. Charles Yam; all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Foothills, Tom Baker and Rockyview Hospitals; the nurses of the Palliative Care team, especially Darcia and Rhonda; home care aides; anonymous blood donors who helped Carlo through difficult times; and Fr. Bill Trienekens.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (400 Edmonton Trail N.E.) on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would also appreciate a donation of blood made in Carlo’s memory.

    Whenever my mom (Luisa) needed something she would always say I talk to Carlo maybe he can help. I can never thank you enough for all the help from Carlo and family. Whenever she needed your family was there. She couldn’t ask for better friends and neighbors. We say goodbye to a kind and caring man. Thank-you for making your superb wine it will be missed.
