PATEMAN, Anne

January 26, 1923-Rorketon, Manitoba
November 25, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta

With sadness we announce the passing of Anne Pateman on November 25, 2013, at the age of 90 years.

Anne was born in Rorketon, Manitoba to John and Annie Dutchak, the youngest of four children. Before the War, Anne met Merv while she was working in Brandon. When Merv returned to Canada after serving overseas, Anne was waiting for him and in 1947 they were married in Hudson, Ontario. From there they moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario, where Dale was born. They eventually settled in Calgary where Trudy was born and the family remained. Anne was an avid gardener both at home in Calgary and at the Millerville property where the family spent many weekends over many years. She loved their weekly trips to the Legion where they always shared lots of laughs with their friends. Following Merv’s passing in 2009, Anne had mobility issues and moved from her home of 55 years on 51st Avenue S.W. to Millrise Place, where she was welcomed into the Millrise family and where she remained until October of this year. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Millrise Place, Rockyview General Hospital, and Bow Crest Long Term Care for the kind and compassionate care Anne received.

Anne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dale and Maureen, daughter and son-in-law Trudy and Philip Bell, grandchildren Holly (Brian) Mackenzie (Jeremy), Eric (Katherine) and Joel (Melinda), great grandchildren Sophie, Liam, Harry, Zach, Anise, Bernadette, and Logan.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Anne Pateman, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

Condolence Messages

  1. Doris & Lou Anne (former neighbors) :

    Dear Trudy, Dale and families,
It was with sadness that we read your mother’s obituary on Friday. Unfortunately we were unable to attend Anne’s funeral services today but we remember her kindly. Your parents were very kind to us when we moved into our house on 51st Ave. Merv, with Anne’s support, was always there to give advice or a helping hand with our home projects. Every Christmas, Anne would send Merv over with a Christmas gift which we always enjoyed. God Bless them both and you and your families as you move into this new stage of life.
