Nicoletta Pasquini, beloved wife of Paolo Pasquini of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the age of 70 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Nicoletta was born on February 15, 1942 in Lanciano, Chieti, Italy. She was the second of four children and spent her childhood helping her mother and father work their land. At the age of 15 she moved with her family to Rome where she worked and later received a diploma in dress making. On January 15, 1961 she married Paolo Pasquini in Rome. She immigrated to Canada that same year and together they built a new life in Calgary. Nicoletta’s focus was her family but she also enjoyed working part time as a seamstress. She worked at the Betty Shop, Bill Hunt’s Formals, and in her later years at the Tux Shop. She loved playing bocce with her friends at the Italian Club and won numerous ladies championships. She enjoyed singing and was an original member of the Italian Church choir. Her passion was cooking and she enjoyed preparing Sunday dinner for the entire family.
Nicoletta is survived by her husband Paolo; sons, Don (Janet) and Tony (Jennifer); grandchildren, Isabella, Francesca, Joseph and Paolo; and step-grandchildren, Katherine and Rachele. She is also survived by her sister Pia (Ezio) Ferrari; brother Eugenio (Nadia) Pasquini in Italy; brothers and sisters-in law, Pierino (Angela) Pasquini, Angela Ribecco, Filomena Rasetti, and Gianna (Daniele) Binda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Italy and Calgary, and relatives in Washington, D.C. Nicoletta was predeceased by her father Donato; her mother Giustina; and her brother Aurelio.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
