April 11, 1920 – London, Ontario
October 7, 2014 – Edmonton, Alberta
Anne Mary Parsons passed away at the age of 94. If ever anyone was worthy of the phrase “she lived a full life” it was Anne. Her love of life, her energy and her kindness touched so many people in so many ways.
Born in London, Ontario, Anne completed school and secretarial courses before going to England during World War II, where she served for the Canadian Red Cross overseas. Returning to London after the war, she married Conway Ernest Parsons and they had two sons, Alan and Jim. In 1961, the family moved west to Calgary. As assistant librarian at Henry Wise Wood and at E.P Scarlett High Schools, she shared her love of books and reading with hundreds of students over the years. She also fostered many enduring friendships, and for as long as she was able, made a point of keeping in touch with all her friends.
Anne is survived by her son Alan; daughter-in-law Joan; her beloved grandsons Graham and Scott; her sister Madeline; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie, son Jim and brother Jason.
A Memorial Service for Anne will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 903 – 75 Avenue SW, Calgary (corner of Elbow Drive and 75th Ave) on Tuesday, October 14 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to Capital Care Grandview, c/o 6th Floor, 10909 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5J 3M9.
