March 23, 1925– Lochore, Scotland
June 11, 2013– Calgary, AB
Agnes Lynas “Nancy” Parkinson graced our world from 1925 until her passing on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
A kind and gentle soul, Nancy was born in Lochore, Scotland and moved to England following her marriage to Stanley Parkinson, the love of her life for fifty-two years.
A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, she knitted feverishly, danced enthusiastically whenever she could, obsessed over crosswords, was a club champion at lawn bowls and laughed generously.
Caring for others was natural for her and smiling was easy. Not surprisingly, she became a dedicated nurse with an acute sense of duty to those in her care. During her twenty-two year career at Skegness Cottage Hospital she grieved for those patients who passed away and welcomed every new baby into the world with unbridled joy; they were all “her” babies.
In her later years, she was drawn to Calgary to watch her grandchildren grow up and be part of their lives. She joined the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club and participated in the Alberta Senior Games.
Nancy will be remembered by her sons Stuart (Nicky) of Perth, Australia and Vincent (Grace) of Calgary; grandchildren, Andrew, Kira, Aaron (Amanda) and Natasha Pouw-Bray (Grant); niece Joyce Nobes (Jack); great-niece Charlene Clark (Mike); great-great-nieces, Alicia, Sarah and Ashley of Calgary; and many nieces and nephews in the UK. She was predeceased by her husband Stan.
