Condolence Messages

  1. Nancy Shamanna :

Carole was a wonderful singer and I so enjoyed singing with her in the Calgary Multicultural Choir. She had a good sense of humour and was a really interesting person, outgoing and caring of others. I had not seen her since our big concert last spring, and was very saddened to hear of her illness. Her vibrant spirit will be remembered by all though. My deepest condolences to her family. She spoke of you often, and you were always in her thoughts, I think.

Allison and Janine, I can’t tell you how sad I am about your mother’s passing. While we haven’t kept in touch the past few years, our friendship is something I will always treasure. We shared a passion for music and I know there are songs that will always trigger memories of those wonderful days (and nights!) when we were young, and a bit foolish, in a very good way. It doesn’t surprise me that she put up such a fight to prolong her life, she always had that remarkable energy. I look forward to sharing condolences in person on Tuesday but thought I’d let you know you are very much in my thoughts.

I worked with Carole at the Addiction Centre from 2007 to 2009. I am saddened by the news of her death. I will remember Carole as a kind, open-minded person. We shared a passion for roots music, which was a point of connection for us. My fondest memory of Carole is singing karaoke together for hours at a Christmas party that she hosted. She will live on through memories like these.

  27. I met Carole when she worked at Childrens Services many years ago as a clerical support person. I was a social worker and she came out with me on a couple of home visits. She went on to do her BSW as a single Mom. What courage! We ran into each other a few times. About 4 years ago we spent several hours together at the Canmore Folk Festival. We went for a beer and she spoke lovingly and with pride of Janine and Allison. I cannot claim to have known her well but do recall her maturity, up beat nature, concern for others and grace. I’m saddened by her passing

    Allison and Janine,
It is really hard for me to begin to express our sorrow in the loss of your Mother and our Dear Friend. I found a passage that I hope will give you some comfort, it did me….
“What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget”…. Remember that we love and care about you.

  43. Tina Roach, President, Calgary Multicultural Choir :

Carole was a proud member of the Calgary Multicultural Choir these past three years and she joyfully sang in the Second Soprano Section. Carole’s ordeal these past months and her sudden death have profoundly affected and touched the lives of her choir family. Her musical friends fondly remember her intense love of music, her beautiful smile, her warm energy, her good sense of humor. She was truly a very interesting woman, outgoing, and, above all, truly caring of others. As one member simply put it, “she was a genuinely sweet person.”
Carole last sang with the choir the Tuesday before her first attack as she and her fellow choristers braved a severe winter storm to entertain and bring musical joy to the residents of Trinity Lodge Retirement Home. Moreover, the Saturday of her attack, Carole was looking forward to participating in the choir’s Christmas Party. That Carole will be fondly missed at choir is reflected in the beautiful e-mail sent by a member of the choir to our Conductor on the Wednesday morning just before Carole’s passing. Alxandra wrote:
“During choir practice last night…while we were going over “Song for the MIra” I kept thinking about Carole…especially at the end of the song.” The words that touched Alexandra were as follows: “And if you come broken..they’ll see that you mend..I wish I was with them again. Now I’ll conclude with a wish you go well….sweet be your dreams and your happiness swell….I’ll leave you here, for my journey begins, I’m going to be with them again.”
It is our intention to propose to the Choir that we dedicate “Song for the MIra” in Carole’s honor at all our upcoming presentations in Retirement Residences and our Spring Concert.
Allison, Janine, and members of Carole’s family, on behalf of our Choir family, we exress to you our deepest sympathy and condolences.
In faith, Carole will continue to be with you and watch over you, and, we’re sure she will be singing with us in spirit.
Carole, may you rest in peace. Amen.

  45. I was very saddened to hear of Carole’s passing and I am sorry that I was not able to be in Calgary on Tuesday. All through Carole’s fight, Barbara kept me posted on how she was doing. I was so hoping as everyone was that she would make it.
I will remember our fun times singing in the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany, the fun we had on Gossip Island, and the evening I spent with Carole at Barb’s and in Whistler.
Carole was a joy to be around. So compassionate and full of energy.
I am sorry too that we did not get to go to a gospel workshop together. We tried but it did not work out.
