September 9, 1957 – Oshawa Ontario
October 10, 2014 – Calgary Alberta
John Panos, beloved husband of Linda Mae McKay-Panos of Calgary, AB, passed away after a lengthy, brave and stoic battle with lung disease, on October 10, 2014 at the age of 57 years.
John was born in Oshawa, Ontario, and moved west with his family at a young age. After graduating from high school in Calgary in 1975, and being very intelligent, but not fond of post secondary education, John went to work as a driver. He worked in home delivery and wholesale, for Palm Dairies (Parmalat Beatrice) for over twenty-five years. He next worked for The City of Calgary, most recently in Recycling Services, where he worked until his illness forced him to leave in 2013. John took great pride in his work, and was highly prized by all of his employers. He enjoyed environmental pursuits, reading the newspaper, playing cards and “green” gardening. A quiet, observant person, with a dry sense of humour, John expressed his thoughts and feelings in small doses.
He leaves to mourn his wife and partner of over thirty years, Linda McKay-Panos; their children, Melanie, Nicholas, special son David; treasured grandson Jasper; mother, Margaret Nelson Panos; brothers, Ted (Pearl) Panos and Robert Panos; two nieces and a nephew, Paul, Grace and Denise; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in Ontario; His beloved in-laws, Mildred and Ted McKay, Brian and Lori McKay, and their children Cassidy, Will and Ty, will miss him.
John was predeceased by his dear father, Edward C. Panos, and his grandparents.
