Seeing her picture and reading her story just made it so real. The picture you chose is exactly the image I hold in my mind of Joyce. I am sad that I won’t get to see her anymore. She was such a beautiful person. I’m so glad I knew her. I hope to be as selfless as she is…

  7. JOHN DAVID KINCAID BRISBIN :

JOYCE AND DAN PALMER, THEIR DAUGHTER MAUREEN AND I PLAYED IN THE CHINOOK BAND, THE FOOTHILLS BAND AND HAD A WONDERFUL ASSOCIATION. I WAS SO SORRY TO HEAR FROM DAVE EDGAR ABOUT HER PASSING. THERE WAS NOT A KINDER WOMAN ON THE PLANET. SHE ALWAYS HAD A KIND WORD FOR ME, ESPECIALLY WHEN I GOT DISCOURAGED. I MIGHT ADD A FINE BASS CLARINET PLAYER. SHE CAN JOIN THAT GREAT HEAVENLY BAND IN THE SKY AND MAKE A WONDERFUL CONTRIBUTION. AND PLAY DUETS WITH DAN, WHO WAS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS AND ONE HECK OF A TROMBONE PLAYER AS IS MAUREEN – A TRUE MUSICAL FAMILY. SHE WILL BE SORELY MISSED.
ESPECIAL GOOD WISHES DURING YOUR TIME OF SORROW TO MAUREEN.
I AM AT THE SPRUCE LODGE IN BRIDGELAND IF YOU WISH TO CALL.

    GOD BLESS
    AS EVER, JOHN

  8. Barbara & David Schmidt (Ross Family) :

We were so sorry to read the news of Joyce’s passing. Joyce’s parents were long time family friends with my parents – Charles and Margaret Ross. (originally met through Knox United Church) In later years, Joyce accompanied our daughter on the flute, and we had a wonderful chance to get to know Joyce. We also enjoyed having the opportunity for short visits after the the band performances at Riley Park. We used to take my parents there on Sunday afternoons, & having a chance to watch Joyce performing in the band was a treat. She was an amazing lady — so kind, gentle & loving — just like her parents. We will always treasure her memory. Since sympathy to all the family.

  9. Barbara & David Schmidt (Ross Family) :

Sincere sympathy to all the family. We will always remember Joyce’s sweet smile and gentle manner. Our connection to Joyce through her music, re-connected our family to a special time with her parents and brother Steven. The Harris family were an important part of the Ross family circle of friends.
