Heather Owen-Smith passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the age of 49 years, with her daughter Alicia Bruner and her close friends Glen and Jan by her side. She was born in Edmonton, lived in Toronto and found a home in Calgary in early 2000. Heather was mom to many people and was always there for others. She had a heart of gold and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She will always be watching over her Bubby girl to keep her strong with love and laughter. There will be no service at the request of the family and, following cremation, Heather will be going to stay with her daughter and her mother Nora. Thank you for all of your love and support, as this has been a very hard time for me. I have a baby on the way and having the loss of my mother has really taken a toll on me. I plan to if I have a girl name her Heather Lynn in memory of her.
