OMELUSIK – Jean Martha

August 6, 1931 – February 10, 2010

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom. Jean Omelusik passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 10, 2010, with her family by her side. Mom put up a valiant struggle despite her health challenges over the past couple of years, and remained strong in spirit and a loving Mom until the end.

Jean is survived by her children, Kathryn Thomas, Ron Omelusik and his wife Debra, Jerry Omelusik, Joan Shilling and her husband Pete Ceh. Jean was dearly loved by her grandchildren, Amber, Mark, Chris, Matt, Shaylene, Amanda, Anna, Daina, Justin, Robbie, Jess, and Mike; and great-grandson Liam; and her sister Josie Batters. She was predeceased by husband George in 2004; and her sister Doreen Wavrecan.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through

    To Jean’s family, my deepest sympathy in the passing of your mom. I worked with Jean at the Daily Oil Bulletin for a number of years, and she was one of the nicest and hardest working people I have ever worked with. Although I have not talked to her in a number of years, the last time we exchanged words she told me that she had cancer. I can only imagine how difficult life became for her since my husband’s brother-in-law died of lung cancer. Again my deepest sympathy to all of you at this time of sorrow.
