Louise “Louie” Alexandra “Alex” Oldridge of Calgary passed away suddenly on Thursday March 20, 2008 at the age of 36 years
Louise came from England in 1981, and attended Branton Junior High and Bishop Carrol High School. After moving to Vancouver, she attended Capilano College & Simon Fraser University. Louise was passionate about the sciences, which led to a career as an editor with the World Health Organization. “Louie” had a daft sense of humour, and a “diva-esque” fashion sense (her tongue firmly in cheek and her eyebrow arched). Louise was a force of nature on the dance floor, her exuberant dance ability and phenomenal sense of rhythm was apparent even at the age of two. Louise loved music doted on her animals and loved to travel. She particularly enjoyed spending time in the in the sun in the Caribbean. Louise will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
As a teenager, one of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a volunteer “Candy Striper” at the hospital, which led to an interest in the care of premature babies. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that, in Louise’s memory memorial tributes be made directly to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Peter Lougheed Centre, Unit 35B, 3500 – 26 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T1Y 6J4.
