Floyd (Pink Panther) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14 surrounded by his family, loved ones and friends at the age of 75 years. Floyd leaves to mourn his three sisters Christine Red Gun, Daisy (Ferris) Smith and Rosemary (Harry) Red Gun, stepbrother Blue, traditional adopted Mother Nora Ayoungman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; also families of the Water Chief, Ayoungman, McMaster, Olds, Old Woman, Peace Maker, Black Horse and Axe Clans. The family apologizes if they have missed anyone.
Floyd was born and raised on the Siksika Nation and worked throughout his life in all areas of the workfield; he was trained with the Kings Own Calgary Regiment Militia in the early 1960’s. Floyd was a very honoured member of the Prairie Chicken Society and his favourite pastime hobbies included handgames, horse riding, farming, ranching, crib games and being a part of the Sundance. Floyd was known to all for his kind generosity and as a humble man; we will miss him dearly. Floyd was predeceased by his parents Cyril and Ida, and siblings, Grace Heavy Runner, Joe, Victor, Doris, Caroline and Cecil Olds.
Wake Services will be held at Siksika Community Centre (Siksika Nation) on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Siksika Community Centre on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow Canon Stockton Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB). The family would like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to the staff at the Siksika Elders Lodge, Peter Lougheed Hospital Unit 53 and the Strathmore Hospital nurses who took care of Floyd.
