Condolence Messages

  1. Betty Jane Hegerat :

Our condolences. We’ve known Barb best as “Andrew’s grandma” through all the years Andrew and our Stefan have been friends. We will remember her too as a good neighbour with a huge heart. I saw Barb in her front garden last week for the first time in at least two years. I stopped and we had a good long chat; as always, she glowed with love and pride when she talked about her grandchildren. I am so grateful to have had that time with her.
    Rest in peace, Barb.
Wayne, Teri, Andrew, Kristjana, and the other members of your family, our thoughts and prayers for peace and healing.
    — Betty Jane and Robert

We were so shocked and sorry to hear of Barbara`s passing. I knew her best through many years of canvasing, esp. heart and stroke in our neighborhood and her mutual love for animals. Our sincere sympathy and prayers.

  4. Jim and Wendy Olafson :

Words cannot begin to express how sad we are with the great loss of Barb. She was one of a kind and had a heart of gold. She would help anyone who needed it. We have so many wonderful memories of spending time with Barb and Wayne, shed tears together and had many, many laughs. Barb was my rock when I lost my youngest son in 1991. Both her and Wayne were there for me at a time when I needed them the most. I will never forget Barb for all the love and support that she provided to me. I don’t know how I could have ever gotten through that terrible time without Barb by my side all the way. One wonderful memory of my son that Barb used to always share with me, was one day before he passed away he went next door to Barb and Wayne’s to borrow a tool of some sort. He knocked on the side gate because he could hear them in the back yard. Barb told him to come in and he asked if he could borrow this tool and she told him to look in the garage and he could find it there. He got what he needed and walked past Barb and when he got to the gate, without turning around, he said “Nice bra Mrs. O.” Barb and Teri had been suntanning on the deck and Barb was just wearing her bra. We had a great laugh about that for many years. One of Jim’s favorite memories of Barb was when he was very young, around 7 or 8, he would have sleep-overs at Barb and Wayne’s when they lived in BC. Barb used to tuck him into his bed that she had made on the floor for him and say “now you be careful that you don’t roll over and fall out of bed!”

Barb was and always will be a very important person in both our lives. She will be in our hearts forever and will be our Guardian Angel for the rest of our lives.

Our hearts break for Wayne, Teri, Arnie, Andrew and Krissy, and Matthew and Emily in their loss of Barb (Dodie). Please hold onto all of the wonderful memories you have shared and know that you were all loved so very much by Barb. Her family was the most important part of her life. She will be with you always in your hearts and she is your Guardian Angel and will watch over you forever. Lots of love and hugs.

  6. Haylea Sutherland :

Hi Auntie Barb. It’s Haylea your niece and I miss you with all my heart. You were so fun to talk to and gave me advice that I still remember and use today. You have always told me to come to you with any troubles and I did. I remember when I told you about a girl I was having troubles with, and you said, “if that girl picks on you one more time I will pound her.” I miss you to bits and wish you were still here with all of us. I now have a new angel watching after me. I will always love you with all my heart <3. I hope you are having a good time in heaven with Scotty. I miss you and always will remember you with all my heart.
