May 25, 1934 – March 8, 2013
Jean Antoinette Oczkowski, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Friday, March 8, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Jean’s journey to peace was long fought. It began over five years ago, with a cancer diagnosis. Many medical complications followed, but Jean faced them with strength and courage.
Jean’s life began near North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was born at home on the family farm. Jean was the sixth of ten children of Fred and Mary Roman. Jean left the farm and worked as a telephone operator at the age of seventeen and retired in Calgary with TELUS, at age sixty-five.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Stanley Oczkowski; her four daughters, Joanne Oczkowski, Valerie Oczkowski, Wendy Oczkowski, and Judi Rohovie; son-in-law Tim Rohovie; and granddaughter Gabrielle Rohovie.
She loved to cook, have people around her, laugh, play cards and she was in her element helping others, especially if they were sick. She also loved travelling, her favourite spot, Arizona. Jean cherished time with her dog Backster.
