June 11, 1948 – Victoria, BC
July 23, 2014 – Calgary, AB

It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the passing our beloved husband, brother, uncle, and great uncle. Paul Larry O’Connor of Calgary AB passed away suddenly on July 23rd, 2014 at the age of 66, in the presence of his wife and soul mate, Denise.

Paul was born in Victoria, BC June 11, 1948, the youngest child of Maurice and Violet O’Connor. He grew up in Oak Bay and lived on Vancouver Island until 2003 when he moved to Calgary to pursue new opportunities. There he met the love of his life, Denise. He was a devoted husband who told Denise how much he loved her every day, and showed it in everything he did. He often expressed his joy and gratefulness for the happiness that he felt in his life. We will remember Paul for his welcoming personality, his genuine, infectious smile, his enthusiasm, and his thoughtfulness of others. He was always true to who he was, was never afraid to speak his mind, and was a kind & generous man with a wonderful spirit. Paul was a man who made the room turn and listen, and every story ended with a giggle and a twinkle in his eyes. His smile captivated the room, his eyes portrayed a playfulness that spelled trouble. Paul was a man who loved so fully and his presence brought joy to anyone who met him.

He is predeceased by his parents Maurice & Violet O’Connor. Left to cherish his memory is his adoring wife, Denise of Calgary; sister Connie Fraser of Delta, BC; nieces Andrea (Dave) Ash of Tsawwassen, BC, Deanna (Jason) Butcher of Cold Lake, AB; nephews Lance Whitelock of Grande Prairie, Mike (Carlee) Whitelock of Edmonton, AB; great-nieces & nephews: Lexine & Tamara Ash, Lucas & Logan Butcher, and Daya Whitelock.

A Private Memorial was held earlier this year in Alberta. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549,

In living memory of Paul O’Connor, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. CALGARY, AB. Telephone: 1-800-661-1599.

  1. I’m sorry I missed his passing. Did he ever pay back all of the investment plans he stole from? He left many people here on the Island with a very bad impression. His infectious smile was probably because he got away with so much, and pretended a new life in Calgary. I’ll never forget him.
