OATES, Franklin Clyde

October 7, 1941- March 23, 2013

After a quick but courageous battle with cancer and after too many years of chronic pain, Clyde grabbed his tools and computer and took one last elevator ride to the penthouse.

He is survived and deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lynn (nee Sigurdson), his son Greg and his daughter Carolyn. Various relatives across the country will mourn his passing as well. His humour, artistry, and love of puns were a joy for all of us. He could fix anything, build anything, and create anything he wanted. He lived the motto ‘Necessity is the Mother of All Invention’, and constantly amazed us with this ability!

As per Clyde’s wishes there will not be a service so please remember him in your own special way. In lieu of flowers, please hug your family, appreciate your abilities every day and order some chocolate dessert!

In living memory of Clyde Oates, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
