February 15, 1929– Antler, SK
October 26, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Oliva Pamphile Nolin passed away peacefully with his children at his side on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the age of 85 years.
Ollie was a product of the Saskatchewan prairie. He was born in Antler and grew up on a farm with nine brothers and sisters. Ollie found work as a heavy equipment operator, helping build oil and gas pipelines across Canada. He married Rose Aline Scott of Reston, MB in 1957.
Ollie and Rose moved to Alberta, living in and around Calgary for the next twenty years or so. In their later years, Ollie and Rose moved to a gentler climate enjoying “semi-retirement” in the interior of British Columbia. He took jobs in agriculture. At home, he built a truly impressive garden. You rarely found a weed taking refuge in his soil. If Ollie wasn’t working or gardening, he could be found fishing on a riverbank somewhere. He also enjoyed good company, a few drinks and playing cards. Perhaps his favorite pastime was “puttering” and if you knew Ollie, you knew that he could putter all day long. We love you, Dad. We wish you peace.
Ollie is survived by his children; Garry (Peggy), Garth (Donna), Grant (Diane) and Gail (Randy); and four grandchildren; Lindsey, Jared, Sarah and Ashley.
A celebration of Oliva’s life will be announced at a later date.
In living memory of Oliva Nolin, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., Calgary, AB Telephone: 403-248-8585.Print This Obituary & Condolences
