NOLIN, Linda Maxine (nee Payne)

December 23, 2013 – Calgary, AB

Friends and family of Linda Maxine Nolin sadly announce her passing on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.

Linda experienced a spinal stroke in September 2013 and succumbed to heart failure in December 2013. Some may remember Linda as a student at LCI and possibly as a graduate from University of Lethbridge in 1988. Others may recall her from her days in the jewellery business and her teaching career with children having special needs. She related well to children from a variety of cultures. Linda moved to Calgary in 2001 where she continued her teaching career in home schooling until her retirement in 2008.

Linda is survived by her long-time friend and companion Bob Alexander of Calgary, AB; siblings, Beryl Layton (Lynn) of Lethbridge, AB, Glen Payne (Pat) of Lethbridge, AB, and Lloyd Payne (Jean) of Calgary, AB; along with nieces and nephew, Donna, Perry and Michelle; and numerous grandnieces and nephews. She was especially fond of step-daughters Julie of Edmonton, AB and Jill of Red Deer, AB.

No Memorial Service will be held, however family and friends will gather at a later date to remember her life. Forward condolences through If friends do desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to YWCA Harbour House Women’s Emergency Shelter, 1-866-296-0447.

I saw her at the LCI school reunion a couple of years ago and we had so much fun, talking about all the good old days.   3. No words can express the deep down sadness I feel. To you all, my dear 1st cousins, Glen, Beryl and Lloyd I sincerely wish each of you peace with the loss of your sister. Linda and I were best friends for many years plus cousins. From 1974 to 1986 we were very close, she loved my children and we shared lots of laughter and even some mischief. Our memories of her remain intact as she rests in peace.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. Linda and I worked at Argyll together and left close to the same time. We kept in touch until this summer. I called her in October and wish I had been able to talk to her. I will miss our conversations, lunch dates and especially her sense of humour.
