NIEWINSKI, Richard Karol

NIEWINSKI, Richard Karol obituaries

July 22, 1957– Calgary, AB
July 15, 2013 – Calgary, AB

It is with deeply saddened hearts we announce the sudden passing of our brother Richard Niewinski, on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the age of 55 years.

Richard was born, raised and educated in Calgary, later pursuing a career interest in computer programming and information technology (IT). Throughout the years, he established an admirable reputation of respect and integrity by the many organizations seeking his IT acumen. A voracious reader, Richard was extremely knowledgeable and an interesting conversationalist. His natural sincerity and willingness to listen, cultivated trust and many enduring friendships. Richard’s passions included photography, history, sight-seeing and watches. A devoted son, brother, uncle Godfather and friend, he especially enjoyed his playful role in the young and impressionable lives of his niece and nephew who loved him dearly. Often the instigating “kidder” who was fun to be around, he always left them wanting more. Richard’s departure was too soon and we will deeply miss him, but forever embrace fond memories of him.

Richard is survived by his oldest brother Edward (Laraine); sister Michelle (Dale); and wonderful niece and nephew Nicole and Nathan. He is predeceased by his father Walter and mother Nancy.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E.) on Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Richard Niewinski, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200

  1. Barb Csak (Kuldanek) :

    Dearest Michelle and Eddie,

Words cannot express how surprised and shocked we were to learn of Richard’s passing. Childhood memories always included time spent with your family. Richard had a sparkling personality, a comical sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He will no doubt be missed by all who loved and knew him. Stay strong and may the bond of family keep you close through this difficult time.

  2. Mark Hoffinger :

    Michelle and Dale:

I am so very sorry to learn of the passing of your brother. I know that you were very close. At times like this, any comforting words seem inadequate and fall so short. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

    Mark Hoffinger and family

  3. Tim Hamilton :

    To Richard’s Family,
I am very sad to learn of Richard’s passing. His big smile, tremendous laugh, and generous spirit will be greatly missed in our city. You could always count on Richard to laugh at your jokes and lift your spirit with even a quick conversation on a street corner. In many ways, he was always the same fellow you remembered from high school. Upbeat, friendly and kind. His intelligence and capacity for learning was very impressive yet he was never overbearing in sharing his knowledge. The world is a little less beautiful without Richard in it. My condolences in your time of loss. Tim Hamilton

  4. I worked with Richard at WestJet a few years ago. His desk was the first you would see when you came into our area, and everyone who came through – co-workers, delivery guys, and even the cleaning lady – loved talking to him. It wasn’t hard to see why. Richard  was warm, funny, and knew something about everything. To this day, whenever I pass by a set of tennis courts, I smile thinking about tips he once gave us on ways to meet the potential love of our lives.  That’s the way he was, always looking out for everyone (and sometimes throwing in a bit of mischief for good fun).

To Richard’s family, my thoughts are with you through these difficult times. I hope you find comfort in knowing that he was beloved by those who knew him and he has left us all with fond memories. He will be missed.

  5. We were so sorry to hear about the sudden loss of your brother. You have our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

  6. Martha Mawer :

I am so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. I worked with Richard at WestJet some years ago and we quickly became buddies. If I needed any info that was at all IT or system related, he was my go to guy. I know that everyone had high regard for his talent and knowledge. Of most importance though, is the kind of person he was: very kind, fun to be around and warm. We have kept in touch over the years since, and he has had many words of support and empathy for me and my family as we have faced some challenges. I will miss him.
To Richards’ family, my sincerest condolences, I know you will all miss him terribly.
    Kindest regards, Martha Mawer
