Leo Nielsen, beloved husband of Ruth of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 after a brave fight with cancer.
Leo will be sorrowfully missed by Ruth, his wife of thirty-six years; his son Paul (Carolanne); and his daughter Susan. He is also survived by his sister Marie (Ted) Rhodes and two brothers, David and Larry (Elaine) and their families. Leo was predeceased by his mother Ruby in 1968; his father Niels in 1993; his brother-in-law Al Taggart in 1998; and nephew Ron in 1999.
Leo came to Calgary in 1985 where he took up trucking, first as a hired driver, later purchasing his own truck and working for Volker Stevin. Leo also had an active winter employment with snow contracts. The bobcat and trailer were a welcome sight to snowed-in friends.
A Celebration of Leo’s Life will be held at Thornhill Baptist Church (128 Tache Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:45 P.M. with Pastor Ken VanderMeulen officiating.
