NICHOLSON, Elizabeth Moore
May 14, 1929 – Calgary, AB
July 19, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Elizabeth Moore Nicholson (nee Crockett), fondly known as “Betty” or “Aunty Bee”, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the age of 85.
Betty was born May 14, 1929 in Calgary. She spent her early years enjoying the farm life in Dewinton and Cremona with her mom and dad, and sister Kathleen. Betty worked for General Motors, at the Calgary business office for over 30 years, all the while never owning a car, or having a drivers license. When she retired, she took driving lessons, and bought a brand new Buick! Betty loved to travel, especially to the United States, where she embraced all things American. Betty was a dedicated hockey fan, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Whenever they were in town, she would go to the game and get an autograph from one of the players. Her collection of Maple Leaf memorabilia was extensive. She adored her family, and was a force to be reckoned with. Tiny in stature, she had a big heart, and will be missed by all of her family, and all those who were blessed to call her a friend.
Betty will be deeply missed, and always loved by her sister Kathleen Welham, nieces Bev and Trish (Rich), great nieces and nephews Pam (Blaine), Kayla (Devon), Jordan, Mason, Alex, and great-great nieces Grace and Ellie, as well as numerous cousins across Canada and the USA.
She was predeceased by her best friend and husband of 9 years, Patrick, and her parents Chester and Catherine Crockett. Many thanks to the staff at the Prince of Peace Manor & Harbour for their care and assistance over the last couple of years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24th @ 1:30 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1307 14th Street SW, Calgary, AB T3C 1C6
