November 7, 1916 – Toishan, China
December 28, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on December 28, 2014, at the age of 98 years. She was born in Toishan, China, then moved to Hong Kong where she worked as a paint warehouse supervisor. Widowed, she raised five children on her own and then immigrated to Canada in 1975. Blessed with a long life, she endured many hardships and worked hard to give her five children a good home and education.
She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed travelling, movies, Chinese opera, knitting, sewing, gardening and cooking (especially delicious dumplings and buns). She was a member of the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens Association and the Longevity Fund Group.
She leaves behind her children: Teresa (George) Eng, Rita (Robin) Kho, John (Emilia) Lee, Andrea (David) Sung, and Agnes (Donald) Ng. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Helen (Chee Meng) Chan, Gordon (Adrienne) Eng, Maria (Franco) Lo, Paul Kho, Margaret Kho, Patrick Kho, Debbie Sung, Jason (Ruby) Eng, Derek (Samantha) Sung, Daryl Sung, Russell (Helen) Ng and Vivian Ng; and her great-grandchildren: Wallace, Preston, Renate, Pascale, Raniel, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Justin, Brooklyn and Tyson.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
