Condolence Messages

  1. Fred J Chivers :

    I was saddened to read of Bernice’s passing. I found Bernice to be a kind, sincere, & fun loving girl. I knew of Bernice & Ken from 1945 to 1950 when I was going with Catherine Scott and we sometimes double dated. When I met my present wife, I somehow lost touch with Ken & Bernice although I had a conversation with Ken when he was at the pharmacy in Brentwood.
    To the family of Bernice’s please accept my sincere condolences. Fred Chivers-Radium B.C.

  3. Marlene Haehn :

    Our parents considered Bernice and Ken to be their most cherished friends. They often spoke of attending the beautiful weddings of Paul, Kendra and Michelle – the beautiful home in Banff – and proudly displayed the photos of the grandchildren, sent regularly by Bernice – with updates on all the wonderful accomplishments of each grand child.

    We have great memories of Bernice and Ken attending our wedding, Oktoberfesting, shopping, dining out – memories filled with lots of laughter, teasing and joy!!!!

    Bernice was kind, thoughtful, funny, loving and sincere. Her visits to Waterloo were cherished by all our family.

    We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers,

    Marlene & Al Haehn

    To Paul and Kendra;
    I lived with my sister and her husband (Dorothy and Ken Leathem) in Meadow Lark Park in Edmonton. We lived right across the street from Bernice and Ken. I baby-sat Paul and Kendra.
    Bernice and Ken were the very kindest of people. I did meet Bernice a couple of times in Calgary at funerals and she was gracious and beautiful as always.
    My sincere condolence to all. As you stated in obituary, she is with her Ken

  10. I was so sorry to hear about Bernice’s passing. I had the pleasure of getting to her know her when she moved into Chinook. Bernice and my Aunt Doreen were the best of roommates. Bernice was a good storyteller and I enjoyed hearing her stories about growing up in Calgary and raising her family in Banff. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. One of my best memories of Bernice was this past Christmas. She came back to Chinook after spending Christmas day with her family and she was so excited to tell us about her wonderful day. She described how her son and daughter-in-law’s home was decorated (inside and out), what a delicious meal she had had, and the laughs she had shared with her family. Bernice was particularly delighted with a painting she had received of Banff. I will miss the twinkle in her eye.
    Regards,
    Joan (Doreen’s niece)
