NELSON, Norman Edgar

October 26, 1931 – October 3, 2014

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norman Edgar Nelson at the age of 82 years, cherished husband of Ivy and beloved father of Sandra. Along with his wife and daughter, Norman will be lovingly remembered by son-in-law Eldon, grandson Serek and granddaughter Karis.

Norman was kind, generous and respected by all who knew him and worked for him. Norman was born on October 26, 1931 in Taber Alberta and was raised on a farm in Antelope Creek. In 1959 after joining Alberta Gas Trunkline Company, which then became Nova Corporation, he was soon transferred to Calgary where he resided until his death. Norman worked for Nova Corporation for over 35 years first as Survey Supervisor and then as a Senior Pipeline Inspector. In his career he travelled most of the province of Alberta, Inuvik, NT, the east coast of Canada and the North East USA. After retiring Norman enjoyed golfing and helping his son-in-law in his cabinet making business and in later years having coffee and scratching tickets with the guys.

Norman is also survived by his brother Ross (Marion), sister Phyllis (Steve) and many nephews and nieces. Norman was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Mary Nelson and brother Glen.

A private family funeral will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.     I was fortunate to spend some time conversing with Norman regarding Great Grandpa Hart’s mineral rights, and our families, on several occasions over the past few years. I am sure he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
