Neil Motiuk beloved husband of Anne Motiuk of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, July 01, 2013 while vacationing in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 74 years.
He was born in Lamont, Alberta and spent his early years in northern Alberta living in Lamont, Skaro, Gibbons and Redwater. He graduated from high school in Redwater. He attended SAIT in 1961 and graduated as a Drafting Technologist in 1963. He first worked at Universal Millwork in Edmonton. He moved to Fort McMurray in 1968 and worked in the oil sands. In 1981 he moved back to Calgary and continued working in the mining industry. In 1986 he started at the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board in the oil sands department. In 1995 he moved into fleet and facilities, retiring in 2006. He married Anne on July 6, 1987 and they resided in Calgary. He spent a lot of his time renovating the 2 homes they lived in, teaching Anne the fine skills of carpentry. Neil loved golf, travel (especially Spain, Oregon, South Carolina, Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Napa Valley), volunteering, gardening, curling, dancing and looking after God’s creatures. He fed many animals in the neighborhood, with the same pair of ducks coming back year after year for birdseed and a swim in the pond he built.
Neil is survived by his wife Anne; sons, Larry of Sherwood Park, Barry of Sherwood Park and Garry (Debbie) of DeWinton; daughter Trisha of Calgary; sister Darlene of Sherwood Park; niece Sarah of Sherwood Park; mother-in-law Stella Chetek of Edmonton; sister-in-law Sharon Shave of Seba Beach; niece Cassiday Shave of Seba Beach; nephew Jared Shave of Seba Beach and brother-in-law David Chetek of Edmonton.
He was predeceased by his father John, mother Mildred; father-in-law Jack Chetek and brother-in-law Les Shave.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Prostate Cancer Centre (6500-7007 14th street SW Calgary, AB T2V 1P9) .Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

So very sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. I knew Neil when he was still in high school in Redwater and again when we lived in Fort McMurray.
