MORRISSEY, Michael Darren Terrance

July 9, 1965 – Puerto Rico
March 16, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Michael beloved husband of Juanita Jane Morrissey (nee Giroux ) of Calgary, AB, passed away on March 16, 2017 at the age of 51 years.

Michael Darren Terrance Morrissey was born in Puerto Rico, on July 9, 1965 to Canadian parents, Maureen O’Brien and Terrence Morrissey. He grew up and went to school in La Crescenta, California. In the early 1990s he moved to British Columbia, Canada, where he worked for Canadian Pacific Railroad. Michael was fiercely loyal, he was a big man, with an even bigger heart; which is to say, he also felt all of his feelings in a big way. There was no length he wouldn’t go to, to make sure that the ones he loved were taken care of and happy. He had many struggles, but he also had many victories and he never gave up no matter what trial presented itself, he persisted. His greatest accomplishments in his shortened life were the individual relationships he forged with those around him. He was a lifelong friend to many; a devoted father and husband. He has left his mark on those he touched and loved. He will neither easily, nor soon be forgotten.

He is survived by his children, Shawn Dylan Morrissey and Chelsea Harahuc; his wife, Juanita Morrissey; and stepchildren, Anthony and Xeila-Mae Favell; as well as his two brothers, Shawn and Terrence Morrissey; his sister Elizabeth Morrissey; and both of his parents.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Goodnight, Mike. Goodnight, sweet man.

  3. Terrence Morrissey :

I want to thank all the folks that contributed to the joy and happiness of Michael’s life. Michael was, as you say, one of the most loving sons a dad could have. I spent much time with Michael on line and in person…he was a genuinely lovely human being. Thanks to his brother Shawn for his constant companionship to Michael especially during some of Michael’s difficult times. Michael shared with me much about his love and gratitude for Shawn and also for all the other folks that loved him and supported him.
    Thank you,
    Mike’s Dad
