MORRISON, Delores (Del) Elizabeth (nee Towle)

July 29, 1925 – Calgary, Alberta
May 8, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

We are both sad and happy to announce the passing of our Mom (Nan to her grandchildren), Delores Morrison of Calgary on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Sad because a great spirit is gone from this earth; happy because she died with a smile on her face in knowing that her decision and that of other trail blazers, will help aid cancer patients make difficult end of life decisions.

Mom is survived by her sister Doreen; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Kathy; grandchildren, Simone, Corina (Sean), Chris, and Kyle (Justine); great-grandchildren, Bella, Alexis, and a yet to be born new addition to the Morrison clan; as well as a beloved dog Maggie.

Mom was predeceased by her two husbands, Findley and Leonard; sister Alma; and three of her four sons, John, Rod, and Mark.

We’re not too sure how we thank angels, but give it a try we must. The care Mom received at three hospitals (Rockyview, Tom Baker and South Calgary) and two CareWest facilities was exceptional. The early visits to her home by the Home Care Team were very helpful and we can’t leave out the management, employees and friends she met while living at Chartwell Royal Park. Yes, we’ve saved our highest praise for those doctors, nurses and staff who work in the Oncology & Radiation Departments together with those on the Pain Team and in Pharmacy at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. And we can’t find the proper words for the care and guidance that both Mom and we received at Unit #74, Rockyview Hospital. We would be remiss if we tried to remember all of your names, but to everyone who touched or spoke to Mom… thank you! Thank you to the Palliative Care and the Transitional Teams and to those caring professionals who guided “us” on a seamless and beautiful path from her life to her death.

A Celebration of Del’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Delores Morrison, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
