MORO, Norman Glen

April 11, 1932 – Bentley, Alberta
September 6, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Norman Glen Moro passed away on September 6, 2017 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by his loving family.

He was raised in Eckville, AB and was a long time Calgary resident.
Norman was a loyal Rotarian for 39 years and past president of the Chinook Rotary Club (1985 – 1986). Rotary was a passion for Norman and attendance was very important to him, earning his 35 year perfect attendance pin. Norm loved cribbage (always playing for fun, but wagering on the outcome often) and taught his children and grandchildren to love the game as well. He took great pleasure in watching them grow up and supported them in their many activities. Cinnamon buns, a “sliver” of pie and the saying, “it is in the Genes” were a few of his favourite things. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Flames and Stampeders. He was also a devoted Maple Leafs fan and supported the Yankees. In his younger days he was an avid participant in sports, focusing on hockey, golf and curling. In his later years he would watch most any sport on TV.

A kind, gentle man, he really enjoyed the fellowship of others and always made sure that it was “fair to all concerned”.

Norm is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Lorraine; children, Carolyn Cousins (David), Pam de Jourdan (Bart) and Gary Moro (pre-deceased by Karen). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Haley & Burke de Jourdan and Dan, Payton, Ireland & Hudson Moro.

At Norm’s request there will be no service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549,, or to the A.L.S. Society of Alberta (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), 7874 – 10th Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 8W1, Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Norman Moro, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB Telephone: 403-256-9575.
