It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfonso G. Morandi on Thursday, December 30, 2010.
Born on June 23, 1926 in Cannero Riviera, Italy, he worked as a Chef in Italy and Switzerland before coming to Canada in 1956. He worked his way across Canada finally settling in Calgary in 1958 where he raised two children, Larry (Marg) and Lora (Vern), and four grandchildren, Breanna, Kristin, Nikolas, and Roxy, with Agnese, his loving wife of fifty-five years. In his working years, he was a celebrated Chef and well respected teacher of Culinary Arts at SAIT. To his family and friends, he was a beloved friend, confidante, fishing buddy, hunter extraordinaire and an exceptional father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. Alfonso was also a member of the Alpini Club. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
