MOORE, Timothy Michael “Mike”

June 14, 1962 – Moose Jaw, SK
October 4, 2014 – Red Deer, AB

Mike passed away suddenly and peacefully in the afternoon at his cabin on Red Deer Lake, Alberta where he loved to spend his time.

Mike touched so many people’s lives in everything he did, always thinking of others’ needs before his own. His passion in life was his wife and daughters. He took great pride in their accomplishments and they have inherited his amazing strength and character. Mike worked at Maxfield, based in Crossfield, AB for most of his career starting off in the shop and through his hard work and determination worked his way to his most recent position of VP of Sales and Marketing.

Mike left behind the love of his life, Debbie and his amazing, beautiful daughters Kristen (Bryce Besler) and Lauren, all of whom were the absolute centre of his world. He also leaves behind his mother Anne; brothers Tom (Chris), and Craig (Ginny); his sisters Shirley McKay‎ (Doug) and Valerie Starke (Chuck); as well as many nieces and nephews and an endless number of friends and colleagues that he would consider family. Mike was predeceased by his father Lorne in 1978.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB) on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Our hearts are saddened at this tragic loss to your family.
Mike’s face would light up when he spoke of each of you, his pride beamed when speaking of the three of you.
As you know, Mike would do anything to help someone and I cannot express how much he helped Greg and I and he never expected anything in return. It is an honor to call Mike a friend and he will be greatly missed by so many.

So many memories. In primary school Mike arrived mid-term as the new kid with the crew-cut hair. Our teacher assigned me as his “school-buddy” to help him fit in. From that moment we became friends and best mates. He was my best friend from late in primary school all the way through to high school graduation. We were “buds” as Mike would say. We hung out together, got in trouble together, got away with it together, and we shared all the discoveries of all the things you go through growing up. We were best mates. He was the kind of best friend you have only once in your childhood, and it’s the childhood friends you remember the most as time goes by.
I left Calgary in 1986 when we were 24 yrs old, on a one way ticket to another part of the world. Mike and Debbie got married at the beginning of that summer – a beautiful celebration – and I left at the end of that summer. When it was time to go, Mike absolutely insisted on seeing me off. So when I said good-bye to my family, Mike was there too. He was that kind of friend. Genuine and loyal. Special.
In the summer of 2010 Stephanie and I were fortunate to spend a weekend at the cabin with Mike and Debbie and their beautiful girls Kristen and Lauren. They got to meet our young children Laura and Theo, and for the first time Mike and I shared being with both our families as we hung out together. It was wonderful.
From myself, Stephanie, Laura, and Theo our heartfelt compassion to Debbie, Kristen, Lauren, family, and all the other loved ones Mike left behind.
My sadness in losing him from life is comforted by so many amazing memories of sharing so many important moments in life with his genuine and loving soul. He was an amazing man and a beautiful spirit.

To Tom, Craig, Valerie and Shirley and mom Anne. I was so sorry to see Mike’s death notice in the paper. I have lived in Calgary the last two years but I have great memories of summers spent at Buffalo Pound Lake. We had a lot of good times out there. I see that Mike was at his cottage when he passed. I am sure that would be where he wanted to be. I know my parents never gave up their cottage. We sold it when they passed. My prayers go out to you and your families at this hard time. Hold on to your wonderful memories of Mike.

  22. I pray for healing of your hearts at the passing of such a wonderful man. I worked for Mike in Calgary and respected him and how he treated others. He treated me like a brother would and told the guys in the shop “No hovering” at her desk and kept the wolves at bay…So shocked and may God keep you close at this time.

  23. Stephanie Setiawan :

Debbie, Kristen and Lauren and family,

We are so saddened to hear about Mike’s passing. Although I was only fortunate enough to speak to Mike a few times, I have heard of many success stories about Mike through my dad. Just witnessing my dad’s face light up with pride, I know that my dad holds Mike up with the highest amount of respect and esteem, and it makes Mike’s passing feel as if we had lost a family member. I know that these feelings were mutual for Mike, because when I was stranded in rural Alberta due to a car situation, Mike was the one who ensured that I got the help I needed to get me home safely. This only further highlights the great character and compassion he had for others around him.

Our prayers are with you all during this difficult time, but always remember that your husband/father was an incredible person.

    Take care,
    Stephanie, Andy, Nicholas

Dear Debbie, Kristen and Lauren – I am sorry and saddened for your loss. I’ve worked on and off with Mike for 26 years and always appreciated and enjoyed his company. The Celebration attendance was an example of how much he was admired and I know personally of a number of people that would have also attended if possible.
