Mary Monchakowsky (nee Onusko) of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2005 at the age of 87 years.
Mary was born on May 12, 1917 in Redwater, AB. She married Peter Monchakowsky and together they operated various businesses in Alberta and British Columbia until retiring in Westbank, BC. Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She also loved charity knitting for various hospitals and organizations in Calgary as well as spending time with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son -in law, Rose and Nestor Yurkiw; four grandchildren, Liana Yurkiw, Jeannine Wagner, Rowenna Storie, and Shawn Storie; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Richard, Kristen and Nicholas; and one son-in-law Cameron Storie. She is also survived by four sisters, Rose Monchakowsky, Olga Stampien, Helen Stach and Evelyn Kuzyk; and one brother John Onusko. Mary was predeceased by her husband Peter; and her daughter Sylvia Storie.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Westbank Cemetery, Westbank, BC.
