MOLNAR, Julius Kenneth

October 18, 1931 – October 20, 2012

Kenn Molnar passed away peacefully on October 20, 2012 at the age of 81 years.

Kenn was born in Winnipeg, MB. His entrepreneurial spirit brought him to Calgary in 1956 starting a glass and glazing company. He held patents which helped to set industry standards that continue to be utilized today. In 1958, Kenn and Esther branched out on their own working tirelessly to form Chemtron Manufacturing Ltd. which continues to thrive. Kenn enjoyed mentoring many young entrepreneurs and was elated when they achieved success.

Kenn will be lovingly remembered by his wife Esther of 58 years; sons David (Wendy) and Glenn (Marnie); grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Courtland and Quinton. Kenn is survived by his brother Douglas (Wanda) of Ottawa and sister-in-law Gladys of Elkford.

Kenn was predeceased by his father Julius, mother Johanna and brothers Ralph and Tommy.

In keeping with Kenn’s wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff and sisters of Father Lacombe Care Center for their exemplary care, compassion and spiritual guidance during his journey.

  3. Esther and family, it’s been many years since I worked part-time at Chemtron Mfg., 1972/73 but I have fond memories of Ken and you Esther. The work was gritty and hard but it built character by doing so. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Know that I have not forgotten you folks and will always remember Ken as my first employer and mentor.

  7. Esther and Glenn and families: I recently learned that Kenn lived to age 81, so glad to respond and extend my personal sympathy in the loss of one of my personal mentors and consultants. Kenn was a great guy that taught us all a lot about life’s challenges, his specialty in sealants and adhesives and alertness about science and travel. Sincere best wishes!

    I have many fond memories of our many trips abroad and am reminded of Ken’s infectious enthusiasm and enjoyment during these journeys.
