MINTY, Roderick William

August 1, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Roderick passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the age of 94 years.

Roderick moved to Carmangay when he was three weeks old with his family and remained there for 94 years. He loved his wife, Josephine from when he met her when she was three and he was six. She waited the seven years (1939 to 1945) he was in the war and they married when he came home. He was a lover, friend and a wonderful strong family man. He could fix anything! He played Santa Clause for over 20 Years for the Christmas community event and took part in all parades that took place for most of his life. Roderick held the following titles; LAC Engineering, RCA WW11, Doctor of Motors Degree (Calgary). He worked at his family business garage as a Mechanic and was a Calgary Stampeder fan, Calgary theater member for 13 years, enjoyed fixing things!, played cards, billiards, dominoes, many kids games and read stories to the offspring.

Roderick is survived by his children, Daughter, Josephine “Jody” Ziegler, Son Roderick C Minty and his wife Irene; grandchildren, Jacqueline Rose Lobley (Geoff) of Calgary, William Joseph Ziegler (Christine) of Calgary, Kenneth Robert Ziegler of Calgary, Jenette Marie Ziegler-Peters (Ed) of Burnaby BC, Roderick R Minty of Lethbridge, William George Minty (Brooke) of Lethbridge and Teresa M. Kral (Greg) Of Hanna AB; great-grandchildren, Susanne, Victoria, Elizabeth, Symone, Logan, Dennia, Tyrone, Branden, Robyn and Jasmyne as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by wife Josephine in 2002; siblings, Annie, James, Rhoda, Robert and George; family members, Paul and Willis and his pets Judy Dog and Billy(Scottish terrier).

The family would like to thank the South Campus Health Center and Rosedale hospice for all the excellent care.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
