We were sorry to hear of Gladys’s passing. She will be missed at family gatherings. Ken, Joanne and I have fond memories of her and Stella. From stories of when they were kids with Klara, Ove, Eddie and Borghild to their own children’s stories. Fun family picnics, camping vacations and celebrations. She will be missed.

  3. Winny McPhail :

Gladys was a woman who I greatly admired. She was always so excited to see her children and her grandchildren! She would giggle with excitement when they all came in the door and revelled in having everyone together in her home. Her grandkids could turn her house upside down and she wouldn’t care! She just loved having them all there! They came to know her as “Grandma Popsicle” because she always had a great assortment of Popsicles for them! Gladys was a wonderful cook and served up a delicious meal with such ease! One of my favorites was her spaghetti and meatballs! Walking in the door to the aroma of that was a treat! To eat it, oh my gosh, even better! Another favorite was her Turkey dressing. Our family has adopted it and call it “Gladys’ Dressing”! No other dressing is accepted in our turkeys! Gladys was a woman who never said an unkind word about anyone.

    Rest in Peace dear Gladys.

  6. George Eccleston :

Bruce and family. I want to express my sympathy for the loss of your mom. I remember your mom as being not only one of the most dedicated Midwest employees, but also a genuinely nice person.

I distinctly remember the first time I met her in 1974. I was told that Midwest was hiring summer students from SAIT and it was suggested that I ask to speak to Mr. Turner (Bill) when I went to the office, I spoke with your mom when I got there who quickly informed me that Mr. Turner was “way” to busy to speak to propective chainmen. Luckily, I then mentioned that I was taking surveying at SAIT, and Gladys, said…”you should have mentiuoned that right off the bat” or something like that. She then escorted me to Bill’s office and introduced me. I never did have to fill out an application for employment, and 40 years later, although not consecutive I’m still @ Midwest.

    Take care
    George

  8. So sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. Condolences from all of Borghild and Berg Jorgenson’s side of the family. Cindy Jorgenson and I were talking about trying to make it to the funeral, but unfortunately the freezing rain around the Edmonton area today kept us from coming. Our thoughts are with you all.

Hugs from all the “Barrhead” cousins.
