March 6, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness the family of Jane Miller announce her peaceful passing on Thursday March 6, 2014 at the age of 97 at the Intercare @ Millrise. Jane was intelligent, quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humour. She kept up with world affairs and enjoyed watching hockey. Jane loved to travel and learn about the culture and history of the many countries she visited. She was a strong independent woman who lived on her own until she was 95. Jane moved from Alsask at a young age. She worked in Ajax, Ontario in a munitions factory during the war, and also lived in Vancouver before settling in Calgary. She worked for many years at the Palliser Hotel and made many lifelong friendships there.
Jane is survived by her dear sisters, Edna Watt and Helen Strutt; and by her nieces and nephews who adored her, Jim Maitland (Marlene), Bill Miller, Susan Fuhrman (Don), Lynn Watt (Rob), Marg Watt, Roger Strutt (Kathy), Claire Seibold (Richard), Lenore Delday (Richard), and Cecily Bradshaw (Robert).
Jane was predeceased by her sister Leona in 2012, her mother Helene in 1981, her brother Bill in 1976, her sister Emma in 1970 and her father Alfred in 1962. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Intercare @ Millrise for their compassion and support in the care of Jane. A private memorial service for Jane will be held at a later date.
