January 31, 1925 – Keresztes, Puspoki, Hungary
January 11, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Betty Miller on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
She will always be remembered for her kindness, gardening and her unique ability to make people laugh without trying. And of course her cabbage rolls. Betty immigrated to Canada from Hungary with her family and they settled and homesteaded in the Chinook Valley area of Peace River. The family grew to twelve children. As the eldest, she helped to care for her siblings. Betty moved to Calgary, where she met and married Otto (Pat) Miller.
Betty will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Shirley (Ken) Bruce and Donna Zuchkan; four grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Michael, and Amanda; and one great-granddaughter Claudia. Also left to mourn Betty are her four sisters; six brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her best friend of sixty years Betty Dixon and will be forever missed by all the staff at Whitehorn Village, who loved her dearly.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Pat in 1982; her parents Izabel and Joseph Himer; and her brother Joe Himer.
