MILES, Denis Alfred
September 30, 1929 – January 4, 2013

Denis beloved husband to Joyce of Calgary, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the age of 83 years.

Denis immigrated to Canada with his family in 1968 where he worked as a carpenter. After retiring Denis volunteered for Meals on Wheels and later drove cancer patients to their appointments. Denis greatly enjoyed all his friends on facebook and his coffee buddies at Village Square Co-op.

Denis is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years Joyce; children, Kathleen, Susan, and Michael; grandchildren, Cheryl (Peter), Heather (Ryan), Kristin (Phil), Kenneth (Kristen); and great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Kiera, Gracie, Teyrnen, Eighan, and Neave. He is also survived by his nephews, David (Sandy), Doug (Pat), Peter (Linda) and their families; and his cousin Margaret “Daisy” Parman. Dad will also be remembered by numerous family and friends in England, Ireland and Australia.

Denis was predeceased by parents Beatrice and Edward;and  his sister Aileen (Bill) Warren.
According to Denis’ wishes no formal service will take place here in Calgary; his final resting place will be in England. The family wishes to thank the staff at Unit #51 (PLC) for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

    Dave Roberts So sorry to hear this news. Dennis has always been one of those blokes you remember from your past. We had such good times and great fun in my years with Dennis in the TA.
    Dave Roberts I could fill a couple of hours recalling our antics. Especially the one about the time we were stopped by the civvi police when we were in a military vehicle. You are all in my thoughts and if you are able give Dennis my love. He is a good bloke.

    Vi Stocker I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Denis I used to work with him at Calgary Housing Authority and I would always see him in the Village Square Co op and we would have a nice chat I will miss those chats . Both my husband and I will miss seeing him. I found Denis to be a really nice man and we got a long really well even when we worked together Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

    Dave Roberts So sorry to hear this news. Dennis was always a good friend to every one. I remember when I first joined the TA he was some one you looked up to. He was always there with good and funny advice. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. I will pass on to all those that i still have Comms with that one of our sole mates has gone.
