Condolence Messages

  1. Ron & Dianne Grant :

What can be said to ease your loss and that of Dale’s many many friends. To know Dale was to know humour – to know Dale was to admire an incredible will in battling and winning against “the demon rum” – to know Dale was to know a great author – to be a friend of Dale was an incredible honour and we will miss him very much but with each memory of him it will always bring a smile.

God Bless You All and God Bless Dale

  2. Joan,
We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. We were aware of Dale’s health problems and know he must have suffered a great deal. Dale and I worked together and carpooled together for many years when we both lived in Thorncliffe. Dale was just a great guy to spend time with.. He always worked hard and had an amazing sense of humor.
Please accept my most sincere condolences. Unfortunately we will be away for most of October and will miss The Celebration of his Life.
    Len and Fran Esler

  3. Barry & Lajuana Cohen :

We met Dale and Joan in the mid-90s while doing a business seminar in Calgary. There was an instant kinship, and we were blessed to see them again on our next trip to Calgary a few years later. Our dinner together on that trip was filled with laughter, and it remains a treasure in our memory banks. We feel blessed to have been recipients of Dale’s humorous and profound email editorials. His wit was amazing! Our prayers and heartfelt sympathy go out to Joan and Dale’s daughter, sons and grandchildren. May your mourning be tempered by your wonderful memories of Dale. God bless you all…

  4. Iris and Ken Hoffer :

I remember trading comics with Dale back in the 40’s, he was a very, nice little boy. Many years passed until the cousins again were back in touch but I am happy we did. We looked forward to his emails and were always guaranteed a laugh. What a wonderful sense of humor he had! The world has lost one of the good ones. Our sympathy to you Joan and his family.

  5. Joan,
Sorry to hear of Dale’s passing, but thinking of him and Brian catching up and playing some pretty good golf games and not bothering to keep score. I know how hard it is to lose someone who has been such a huge part of your world. Keep those memories close and remember the good times.

  6. I never had the pleasure of meeting Dale but the mention of his name was frequent in our household over the years. My husband Rolly Fisher was Dale’s partner in their early days as detectives. Of the many stories and reminiscences I heard over the years I was amused but also came away with the feeling that Rolly’s fondness for Dale was admiration for a trusted colleague who had the gift of bringing joy and laughter that was remembered for many years after. I was left feeling that he was a wonderful man and so to all the Miettinen family I am deeply sorry for your loss and wish you comfort and strength.

  8. Jim & Charlotte Mathews :

Joan and family. Charlotte and I are sad to hear of Dale’s passing, he was a very nice man! I had the opportunity to work with Dale many years ago as a very junior Constable, and Dale was a great guy to work with. He always had a smile on his face, and a “smart assed” humorous comment for every situation. We are very sorry that we cannot attend Dale’s service as I have an appointment at Baker, but we want you to know we are thinking of Dale, and remembering the good times, and when we do that, he is still here!
