After a good life well lived, Jack Merryfield passed away peacefully at Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the age of 92 years.
Jack was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Agriculture. His post-secondary education was interrupted by World War II, where he served for two years in the Royal Canadian Army-Armoured Corps. After the war, Jack went on to have a long and satisfying career with Green Valley Fertilizer and Cominco Limited. He moved through positions of increasing responsibility in Cominco’s fertilizer and chemical divisions, retiring as Western Region Chemical Sales Manager in Calgary.
Jack will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons Bruce and Rick (Deirdre); former daughter-in-law Teresa Merryfield; grandchildren Scott, Lauren (Gilles) Leroux, Heather (Tom) Van Norman, and Layne; four great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by Shirley, his wife of fifty-three years, his son Peter and his brother Basil.
A memorial service will be held at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church (1509 Lake Ontario Drive S.E.) on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
