MENNIE, Gregory Alexander

January 5, 1960 – November 26, 2014

Gregory Alexander beloved son of Shirley Mennie passed away suddenly on November 26, 2014 at the age of 54 years old.

Greg was born in Reston Manitoba. In 1972 his family moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba and then on to Calgary in 1975 where he resided since. Greg played hockey in his younger days, loved music and he was an avid gamer spending many hours in front of his computer. Greg was first in line for the next game to be released and there were many marathon weekends with the new games.

Greg worked for various moving companies with the most recent being Classic Office Movers.

Greg will be missed by his family and many friends. When asked, Greg was described as being a great guy. He was a good friend who would help anyone who needed it. He was gentle, kind, sensitive, intelligent, and lived his life on his own terms. Greg probably never realized just how many friends he had.

Greg is survived by his mom Shirley; brother William; nephew Scott; sister in law Sally; and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his dad Scottie in 2013 and his niece Kayla in 2008.

The family would like to thank his co-workers and friends who came to their aid in this difficult time. A special thanks to Classic Office Movers, David, Doug, Dale, and Kevin.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Tuesday December 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

Condolence Messages

  1. One morning last week was a very sad morning when I received a call from a old co worker telling me about Greg’s passing. I remember Greg very well from my days working with him when he worked at CSS Office Furniture. He was a great guy to work with. He was quiet, gentle and a good mentor when asked for help on any job.
    Rest in peace.

  4. Rhonda Campbell (Cousin) :

Aunty Shirley and Willy, I am so sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. I have a lot of fond memories as kids running around Reston in the summer when my family visited. I heard nothing but good things from all of my other older cousins that Greg grew up to be a gentle, quiet and kind man, who looked after his parents with great respect. RIP
