MEILLEUR, Justin Robert

December 30, 1985 – Calgary, AB
May 23, 2014 – Calgary, AB

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Justin Meilleur; beloved son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many.

Justin wasn’t given the time to do all he had planned, but the pages of his life are filled with his contagious laughter, love of life, and fun shared with the countless people who care about him. He was absolutely one of a kind, with enough charisma and personality to be the life of any party. It was important to him that others have as much fun as he did, and he had an almost magical way of pulling you into his world. Everyone who knew him was better for it, and we remember him lovingly for the joy he brought to all of our lives.

Justin was an accomplished ski racer, who loved to push the limits. His fearless enthusiasm and talent led him to compete among the world’s elite junior racers. He experienced similar successes in baseball where his team won a provincial championship. Those who were fortunate enough to be on a team with Justin won’t soon forget the experience – his comedy and antics generating innumerable stories that will be told for years to come. He also had a passion for golf, where his natural ability and lighthearted nature made him a pleasure to play with.

The story and legend of Justin cannot be summed up in these words. He was a complex person, whose outward toughness was belied by his generous, loyal, and caring nature. Justin lived life to the absolute fullest with a vibrancy and style that only he could deliver. He loved his friends and family dearly, and wanted all the times shared with them to be memorable. Each of us had unique and enduring experiences with him that will be cherished, and remembered with the laughter and cheer that characterized Justin’s life. It is in that spirit that we invite you to celebrate a life well-lived, by the person we all loved.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Justin’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca.

In living memory of Justin Meilleur, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

    Deb, Mark, & Ryan,
There are not enough words to express our deepest sympathy. Our hearts truly go out to each of you and to Justin’s grandmother. I will always have fond memories of Justin, his carefree manner and his humour as we worked together to build his resume. He made the exercise fun. Justin has left this world too soon. You are in our daily thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.
    Sincerely and with heartfelt sympathy,
    June & Jim Goddard.

  3. Colette Ledoux :

For the family, there are no customary words of wisdom that will ease the pain of losing Justin, and nor should there be – it’s impossible to define “rare”.

I can give you my unvarnished account of the few, rare occasions with Justin – his aura was larger than life itself, he was a maverick, he was receptive to affection, and he was fiercely independent.

He left too soon, but how uniquely wonderful indeed, that he left such an indelible mark.

Sweet boy, I really did not know you, but I am blessed to know for certain, I will never forget you.

    Colette

    Deb, Mark & Ryan,

I feel blessed to know that my last moments and memories of Justin I was able to share amongst your family. Talking about your beautiful trip to France and the amazing food. We were able to have a conversation about golf and Justin’s love for the game. I couldn’t ask for better memories with your son.
Justin had such a passion for life. Everything about him was infectious, and oh how he loved his family! His laugh, smile, and kindness will forever be embedded into my heart and soul.

Justin, you’re in a better place. I love you, and I will miss you forever.
    Until we meet again.

  15. When I moved across the city and started at a new school halfway through grade 11 Tino was my first friend. I actually kept my distance from him at first being a bit intimidated by his outspoken ways and ability to always be the centre of attention. One day I was sent out of class and ran into him by the portables. He was alone but enjoying kicking a juice box around like it was a ball. He looked to be in his element. Even though we still had not really spoken he invited me to join in. We played with that juice box for 45 mins until the bell rang and he invited me to go with him and his friends for lunch. From there it’s been 11 years of crazy memories and as of late usually 3 am phone calls asking me what I’m doing. I would re-explain I have two kids and was sleeping and have a good laugh with him. I’m gonna miss Tino and can’t imagine the heartbreak his family is experiencing right now I’m very sorry for your loss he was truly a great person inside his heart.

  24. Deb and Mark, I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Justin. I have fond memories of you inviting me into your home, as we laughed together about his “winky” nature. Justin has touched my life and so many others in so many ways, and I will cherish our short time together for the years to come.
