Theoren Meguinis of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, May 22 2012 at the age of 19 years.
Theoren “Therbear” Meguinis, beloved son of Heather Meguinis passed away suddenly on May 22, 2012. He leaves behind his twin brothers, Leland (Krista), Eldon, and dear sister, Krista Nizhoni and his only niece Alieha, his God Parents Poncho & Pauline Jacobs. Theoren was one of late Granny Helen’s favorites . She was the one who began to call him Therbear. Theoren had a very protective nature like a bear. Theoren’s Great Grandfathers were WW11 Veterans, Harold Crowchild of Tsuu T’ina and the late Steve Mistakenchief Sr of Blood Reserve. He carried both his Grandpa’s traits of a young warrior by being protective, caring, humble and generous. He was a natural leader amonst his peers and a genuine friend who would give the clothes of his back.
His outgoing personality and smile would light up any room, there wasn’t a place we could go where people did not know Theo. He admired and respected our native way of life, especially round dances and powwows. He enjoyed listening to music, and hanging out with his cousins & friends. He was an inspiring chef and took pride in his clothing style. He was a natural athlete in any sport he chose to play. He scored the winning goal for Tsuu T’ina during the 2007 Hockey Provincials championship game. However his first love was basketball and played for the Tsuu T’ina Buffalos during high school at Tsuu T’ina Jr/Sr High School. His final message to all his family and friends was “When you get lonesome listen to music, it soothes the soul” Theo Meguinis.
