Heather Marie Ann and baby girl (nee Onespot) beloved wife of Brian Meguinis of Calgary, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the age of 56 years.
Ann was a teachers assistant and loved working with kids and was also a cook for the elementary school. She made ribbon shirts for; artist Dale Auger, chuck wagon driver Ray Mitsuing, cowgirl Stephanie Simon, Jenny and Marcel Salteaux, beaded Peacemaker Medallion for Judge Mandamin. She was a seamstress craftsmanship in many traditional works, beaded outfits, mossbags, Tipis, ribbon shirts and Shawls. She enjoyed playing in her garden with her black and white cat “Poopsie” and her daughter Breezy. She enjoyed watching movies. Two of her favorites were Lord of The Rings and Gone With The Wind. She made daily trips to Value Village and the local pawn shops for her knick knacks. She loved the fact that she could pass on many traditions to her two daughters including her traditional way of cutting meat and smoking meat. Ann enjoyed playing scrabble, doing puzzles, reading and spending time with her only grandson baby boy Antonio.
She had a great smile, laugh, sense of humor, her sense of silliness and all her stories. As a child, she was a old style fancy dancer, she loved traveling to pow-wows, spending time with her brothers and sisters, and at the age of 24, Brian fell in love with his high school sweetheart Ann, a year later they were married and a year after that, had Justin “Boots” Meguinis. Brian and Ann were married for 39 years, she dedicated her life to her family and raised 4 beautiful children and also her baby boy Antonio. She was dedicated to being a Mom and mentor in providing us her traditional ways. She was always there for her children giving advice as best she could. She always had the best sense of humor and had the brightest smile and eyes. She was and always knew how to make you feel better. She always showed her love to every child that was around, no matter who the child was to her.
Besides her loving husband she is survived by two sons; two daughters and one son-in-law; Justin Brian Adam, Robert Gary Phillip, Amanda Harmanie Bruce (Earl Jacobs) and Breezy Brianna all of Calgary and one grandchild my special baby boy Antonio Two Guns Phillip Meguinis. She is also survived by brothers, Allen (Christine) Onespot, Dave Onespot, Dale Onespot, Jordan Onespot, Jon Onespot, Ron (Lorna) Onespot; sisters Theresa Roberta Big Plume, Beverly (Jean Paul) Bourget and Verna Onespot; sister-in-law Karen (Dave) Meguinis, Diane Meguinis, Donna Meguinis, Joyce Starlight, Marlene Starlight, Darlene Starlight and special friend, sister-in-law Pauline (Poncho) Jacobs; brother-in-laws Gerald (Violet) Meguinis, Jim Meguinis, Tony Starlight and Percy Starlight, and mother Ida Georgina Onespot; her adopted daughters Misty Blue Mesteth, Samantha Smalleyes, Joni Breaker, Renee Whitney, Tracy Bearspaw, Lila Littlechief, Jori Many Wounds, Jessica Onespot, Nicky Conway, Tonya Crowchild and Maria Onespot.
Ann was predeceased by her father Robert Onespot, mother-in-law Helen Meguinis, father-in-law Phillip Meguinis, step-father Harold Crowchild; brothers Vernon, John Brian and Bruce; brother in law Kenneth Crowchild; nephews Theoren Meguinis, Lance Dodginghorse and Jayles Beaver and special auntie Dolly Leeb.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Brian Meguinis (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Monday, September 30, 2013 commencing at 3:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (3700 Anderson Road S.W.) on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).
