McNEILLY, Agnes (nee Stevenson)

March 31, 1914 – August 25, 2012

It is with extreme sadness that we announce that our Mom, Agnes McNeilly, passed away peacefully at her residence at Chinook Care Centre on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

Mom was born on March 31, 1914 in the town of Renton, Scotland in the Loch Lomond District. In 1928 she immigrated to Canada with her father, sister and brother, settling on Vancouver Island. While living in Victoria she met Tom McNeilly and due to lack of work, they moved to Montreal in 1940. In 1977 the family moved to Calgary, where Mom was very active in her church until retiring in 2010. She could always be found in the kitchen or serving a cup of tea. She enjoyed the people and had fun watching all the children in the church grow up.

Agnes is fondly remembered by her son, Tom (Beth); daughter Lorraine; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven McNeilly. She was predeceased by her husband Tom; sister Grace; and brother Alex.

A Celebration of Agnes’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made directly to The Salvation Army Berkshire.

In living memory of Agnes McNeilly, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
