My deepest condolences to Shannon’s family. I only met Shannon briefly one summer at a fishing lodge. I’ve been following the blog and must say she has changed my perspective on life. Life is too short to worry about the small stuff and to not give the ones you love 100% of your effort everyday. It’s so heartbreaking that people like Shannon have to suffer for the rest of us to learn important lessons. Her legacy will be strong.

It’s so hard to find the words that will give comfort. This wonderful lady taught my children at SHA. She shared a horrendous illness that my sister had, as well, leaving us much too soon and leaving a husband and four children behind. I know how hard Shannon fought and I am beyond words of admiration for her courage and strength. May God give you the strength to forge ahead and live without your loved one. Take comfort in the thought she is still with you and watching over you all now. God Bless. Sincerely , Karen and Doug Van Verdegem and Jonathan and Krysta whom she taught.

Shannon was such a passionate, strong, remarkable teacher, and young lady. Her strength and zest for life will continue to inspire us.
Her message, “Live” will enlighten and remind us of the importance to appreciate the life we have, to live it with purpose and passion, to smile and to express our love to each other every day.
My most recent message from Shannon was one of hope. Despite all she had endured and the road that lied ahead, she remained hopeful.
She is a true hero; an inspiration and model of strength and character.
