Marian McNeil passed away peacefully at the Black Diamond Hospital in Black Diamond, Alberta at the age of 95. Marian was predeceased by her husband Frederick H. McNeil and her son Ronald McNeil. Marian is survived by her daughter, Marie McNeil and her son Bruce McNeil, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
Marian was born September 4th 1917, to Arthur and Lilly Williams of Tredega, Wales. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1934. She lived with her siblings, Ronald, twin brother Elwin and sister Laura in Toronto until she married.
Marian married her husband Fred in 1943 during the Second World War and remained in Toronto until the end of the war. Marian and Fred moved directly after the war to Victoria where Fred built their first home. Marian made her career at home with her 3 children and was a volunteer while living in Montreal. Marian devoted volunteer time to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.
During Fred’s long and varied career, Marian and family experienced many job related moves, following her husband faithfully from Victoria to Montreal and places between. The 14 years prior to Fred death were spent at the family ranch at Granum, Alberta.
Fred predeceased Marian Sept 15 1995. Marian, after Fred’s death, spent time with family between Ontario and Alberta eventually residing at her home in Priddis, Alberta. Marian spent the balance of her life comfortably, with family and a great view of the Rocky Mountains.
A Memorial for Marian will be held at her Priddis residence, on November 24 at 3:00 pm for family and friends.
