  2. Maurice Hogue :

I was very saddened to read of the passing of Howie in the Winnipeg paper. Though we were rarely in touch for many years, I have fond memories of our relationship as schoolmates at tiny St. Anne’s school in the basement of the church and through high school, sharing a caring friendship, and winning (and losing occasionally) as football and basketball teammates. Howie was one of the great football players of his time in high school in Winnipeg. Vince Leah, a much respected sportswriter of the day considered Howie one of the finest running backs to play high school football at St. Pauls College. He was tough as nails, and pretty darn fearless too.

I miss those walks home from school, too.

My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. Howie was truly one of the good ones.
